Big League Weekend

Every year baseball fans look forward to spring training, when they can watch teams prepare for the upcoming season’s games. During Big League Weekend on March 17 to 19, you can watch the Texas Rangers face the Cleveland Indians at the Alamadome downtown. Tickets may be purchased on the website.

Wild Days

SeaWorld’s Wild Days is scheduled on the weekends between March 4 and 26, as well as the entire week of March 11 to 19. Celebrity wildlife experts will be on hand to introduce visitors to the wonders of the animal kingdom, and opportunities for close-up looks at the native wildlife of Texas will be presented. The gala will also include entertaining shows, children’s activities and a high-energy lumberjack competition. Aside from the events associated with Wild Days, you can enjoy the rides and other attractions at SeaWorld.

Mardi Gras Festival

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will host the Mardi Gras Festival on March 24 to April 30. It will involve a parade of street floats and marching bands, along with themed food like beignets. Visiting Six Flags is always fun, but the New Orleans-style party will make it extra special.

The city’s Fiesta will be held on April 20 to 30. This major celebration is multifaceted, offering a broad spectrum of diverse events. It will include parades, pageants and music, in addition to patriotic, athletic and cultural activities.

San Antonio has so much to see and do that it’s hard to know where to begin. The next few weeks hold a variety of Christmas activities and sporting events.

Ford Holiday River Parade

On the evening of November 25, the Riverwalk will be the scene of the Ford Holiday River Parade. You can watch it from some points of the 2 1/2-route without charge, but you may want to bring a chair. If you prefer to see the event from one of the best vantage spots, seats are available for purchase; and the cost ranges from $15 to $40.

Prior to the parade’s start at 6 p.m., carolers will sing at three downtown bridges. Ticket holders in the Arneson River Theatre area can listen to a concert from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sporting Events

The city is home to the San Antonio Spurs, the basketball team, and the San Antonio Rampage, the ice hockey team. Check their schedule to see if a home game coincides with your visit.

Handel’s Messiah

Down through the ages, people from across the country and overseas have made attending Handel’s Messiah one of their annual traditions. The San Antonio Symphony will present the masterpiece at various venues between November 25 and December 4. Admission is $25.

Restaurant Week Comes to San Antonio for a Good Cause
