Near the Rusk KOA are many popular year-round tourists sites.
Don’t miss the Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari. At your own pace, you can enjoy a self-guided drive through the hills and open savannahs of this 300-acre park. Only 20 minutes from the Rusk KOA Campground.
Also just minutes from the KOA is the Rusk Footbridge, the nation’s longest wooden footbridge. It was originally built in 1861 to connect Rusk and the town of New Birmingham (now a ghost town). The bridge measures 546 feet by 4 feet.
Have you ever wondered where the military weapons and vehicles come from for movies? Then the Toyland Combat Vehicle and Military Museum is the place for you. Come see and touch actual military equipment that’s been used in the movies. Or see the miniature horses and cattle.
Also nearby is the Adrenaline Rush Zipline. Come and zip over ponds, trees and meadows. Choose the package that’s right for you and don’t forget to include the longest zip line in Texas, the Adrenaline Rush. Celebrate the Holidays
The Rusk KOA will host its annual Thanksgiving potluck dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, in the club room. Campers are encouraged to bring a covered dish and/or dessert to share… the bird and dressing are provided by your campground hosts, Virginia and Norm Otis. The event begins at 2 p.m.
The campground will also commemorate the Christmas holiday Dec. 21-25 and New Year’s Dec. 31 to Jan. 1.
