On December 9 and 10, travel back to Christmases past at the 38th Annual Candlelight at the Ranch. The event is called “a living Christmas card” because it’s a recreation of holidays like those experienced on the prairie from 1780 to 1950. Features include Christmas carols with a Texas swing, hosts dressed in period clothing and 4,000 lights. Admission is free, but a donation of $5 per family is suggested. It will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 9 and 10 at the National Heritage Ranching Center. The location is at Texas Tech University.

Winter Wonderland

Head over to the Panhandle South Plains Fairgrounds on December 3 to attend Winter Wonderland, an extravaganza of live music, shopping and food. This family event also includes horse rides and train rides. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the address is 1012 Avenue A.

Cowboy Christmas Show

On November 30, Michael Martin Murphy will present a Cowboy Christmas Show at the Cactus Theater. The entertainer’s hits include country-western, pop and bluegrass genres. Hours are from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and admission ranges from $25 to $60. The address is 1812 Buddy Holly Avenue.
