Christmas at Washington State Park in Arkansas

Texarkana is less than an hour’s drive from Historic Washington State Park in Arkansas. It is the home of 30 restored structures that were built from 1824 to 1900, which include examples of Italianate, Southern Greek Revival, Gothic Revival and Federal architecture.

A visit here will take you back in time, as it will involve seeing guides dressed in period costumes, taking a ride on a surrey, and hand dipping candles.

The park is an interesting attraction any time of year, but the best day to visit is on December 10, when Christmas tours will be offered. You can stroll through homes dressed in decorations of holidays past such as pine cones, evergreens, magnolias and grapevines. Stop at the gift shops to pick up a gift for that special someone.

Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children age 6 through 10. Daytime tours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., while candlelight tours start at 5 p.m.
