Plan a Fall Lubbock Camping Trip

The weeks ahead hold many pleasures for campers who stay at Lubbock KOA. The National Cowboy Symposium, Texas Tech Red Raiders home games and the Panhandle South Plains Fair are a few of the community events you can expect. In addition, our area has an awesome drive-in movie theater.

Cowboy Symposium

On September 9 to 11, the National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration will be held in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. A must-see event, it will involve storytelling, musical acts and cowboy poets along with chuck wagon cooks and exhibits of western goods.

  • On Friday and Saturday, the exhibits open at 9 a.m. and the evening performances begin at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday’s schedule begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a devotional at 9 a.m.

Red Raiders Home Games

When fall rolls around, everyone looks forward to football. The Texas Tech Red Raiders will have home games as follows:

  • September 17: Louisiana Tech
  • September 29: Kansas
  • October 15: West Virginia
  • October 22: Oklahoma
  • November 5: Texas

Panhandle South Plains Fair

Make plans to attend the Panhandle South Plains Fair on September 23 through October 1 at the Panhandle South Plains Fairgrounds. It promises to be quite an event, as it will include a carnival, agricultural competitions, exhibits, entertainment and food. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Stars & Stripes Drive-In Movie Theater

Many people fondly remember going to the drive-in when they were children, but few communities still have these wonderful types of theaters. You can relive this childhood delight at the Stars & Stripes Theater. Admission is $5 to $8, and the shows generally start around 8:30 p.m.
