Every night through New Year’s Eve, campers from Bastrop / SE Austin / Colorado River KOA can enjoy the River of Lights, which is 1 ½ miles of 120 lighted displays and music. Visitors can choose to either drive or walk along the river trail, and on most nights nonprofit groups will be available to sell hot chocolate, cookies and holiday treats.
The First Baptist Church will have a beautiful candlelight worship service at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Join the locals in this joyous celebration of Christ’s birth.
Those who choose not to cook on Christmas Day can enjoy a fabulous buffet at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort. Whether you prefer breakfast items like French toast and made-to-order omelets or opt for dinner fare like butternut squash soup and roasted garlic mashed potatoes, you are sure to enjoy the broad array of offerings.
On a chilly winter’s evening what could be better than a steaming bowl of savory chili? On January 5 at 5 p.m., the American Legion in Bastrop will hold a chili cook-off, followed by music from New York Brian.
