Formula 1 Grand Prix Race

Much excitement is in the air about the Formula 1 Grand Prix Race coming to the nearby racetrack on November 16 through 18. An easy drive from Leander / NW Austin KOA, Circuits of the Americas will be the scene of this tremendous event that racing fans have long anticipated. It’s a good idea to reserve a place in our park now, while we still have vacancies.

In nearby Cedar Park, sports fans can attend games by the Texas Stars, an American Hockey League team. Games are scheduled at various times from October through April.

Those who admire Victorian architecture and vintage homes will enjoy an excursion to Georgetown to see what a Southern Living writer described as “one of the prettiest squares in Texas.” You can stroll along the shaded brick walks in the downtown area, where the buildings have been restored to their resplendent period beauty, replete with gingerbread and decorative trim.

When in the downtown area, drop into Laurie’s Too Tearoom for some good home-cooked Texas food. Made from scratch, everything is delicious, including hearty meals like cheeseburgers and sweet potato fries, in addition to lighter fare like strawberry soup, quiche and creative salads. If you just want a little something to eat, try a slice of melt-in-your-mouth chocolate fudge cake with some peach tea.

We welcome you to our park, which is close to this charming town, as well as all of Austin’s attractions. Visit our website and reserve your spot today.

Football Season Begins Soon

One of the pleasures of fall is attending a great Saturday night college football game and watching the action with a cheering crowd. The fall football season of the Texas Tech Raiders will launch on September 1, when the home team will take on the Northwestern State Demons. We invite you to stay at our Lubbock KOA park, which is close to Jones AT&T Stadium at the university.

Other home games coming up within the next few weeks include the New Mexico Lobos game on September 15, Oklahoma Sooners on October 6 and the West Virginia Mountaineers on October 13. Maybe when it’s time for those October games, we’ll be savoring those first refreshing whiffs of cool fall air.

Round Top Antique Fair

A major event coming up October 3 through 6 is the 45th Annual Fall Antiques Fair, an event that has earned a reputation for carrying superior quality items and unique antiques. Each year exhibitors scour the country, as well as the world to find merchandise worthy of being part of this esteemed market, where customers have been knows to furnish an entire room form this show.

One of the largest antique shows in the nation, this massive display is an irresistible collection of Americana, Texas Primitive and Continental furniture and accessories. It has been said, “If you can’t find it here, it doesn’t exist.”

Another exciting event on the horizon scheduled for November 16 through 18 in Austin is the Grand Prix Formula 1 race. This much anticipated race is an easy drive from our park.

The KOA with an RV Art Gallery

Something very special is in store for campers at Texarkana KOA – the RV Art Gallery. You can travel across the depth and breadth of America and not find a larger collection of RV art prints and RV themed gifts, as we have the distinction of having the most extensive collection in the world. Browse through the gallery that portrays and celebrates the RV lifestyle that so many have come to love. Available for purchase are print reproductions and notecards, as well as books, calendars and collectibles.

Just as our campground has a unique attraction, so also does the city of Texarkana. The US Federal Courthouse and Post Office bisect the state line, and it is the only federal building in the country that is built in two states. A great place to take photos is a spot in the center, showing that half of the building lies in Texas and the other half in Arkansas.

We invite you to stay at our park and enjoy these and other attractions. Visit our website and reserve your spot today.

Improvements Underway at our Colorado River Campground

Here at Bastrop/SE Austin/Colorado River KOA we are making several improvements that will enhance our campers’ experience. We’ve completed two custom park model cabins and by the end of August we will have completed two more poolside cabins, a splash park and an open air pavilion. Additionally, we now have tent camping available adjacent to the Colorado River.

At Circuit of the Americas, the local car racetrack in Austin, the Formula 1 Grand Prix race is scheduled for November 18. Racing fans are looking forward to this event with much excitement. We still have four sites available for this time, so you may want to go ahead and book your spot before we are filled up.

Our campground is in the heart of central Texas, where visitors can find many enjoyable things to do. As Bastrop is considered the most historic small town in Texas, one of our foremost attractions is the historic downtown district with many 19th and early 20th century homes and buildings.

Also, our close proximity to the Colorado River makes this an ideal spot to engage in all types of water sports like fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Other sports opportunities in the area include hiking, horseback riding and golf.

Visit our website to see all the improvements we are making and to book your spot today.
